Hi! My name is Laurel Button (as you have hopefully figured out by now). I am a college senior at Saint Louis University, majoring in my two great passions: computer science and theatre performance.

 

I can probably guess what you are thinking—how can those two possibly fit together?

 

Well, for the most part, they do not.

 

However, both are areas that I cannot imagine my life without. I am passionate about pursuing a career in computer science; I love experiencing a program go from a simple idea to a detailed plan to a complicated mass of code to sleek and simplified masterpiece.

 

I most enjoy working at the front end of development, designing and programming web-pages or applications and working with clients to create the ideal outcome.

 

I like to think of the theatre part of my degree as a communication degree with an emphasis on public speaking.

 

Think of it this way: if I can effectively explain Shakespeare, I can explain pretty much anything.

 

My theatre experience has provided me with is excellent confidence in speaking in front of crowds and an ability to express ideas in a unique and creative manner.
